Course overview
This 20+ hour course focuses on understanding and supporting individuals experiencing grief, loss and bereavement. Participants explore theories of grief, emotional responses to loss, stages and processes of grieving, complicated grief, coping mechanisms and therapeutic interventions, and the course addresses various forms of loss including death, separation, life transitions and significant changes. Through case studies, counselling tools, activities and practical techniques, participants develop skills to provide empathetic support and facilitate healing, acceptance, resilience and meaning-making during times of loss.
Delivered as 20+ hours of live, interactive online training, the course combines lectures with hands-on live practice in real time, in small groups in breakout rooms, plus role plays, worksheets, therapeutic tools and case-study discussions. On successful completion you receive a certificate, having developed the confidence to apply these approaches in counselling, educational, organisational and community settings.
