Course overview

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental skills, principles and processes involved in effective counselling practice. It focuses on developing essential counselling competencies such as active listening, empathy, rapport building, questioning skills, reflection, summarising, attending behaviour and therapeutic communication. Participants explore the stages of the counselling process — establishing a helping relationship, assessment, goal setting, intervention and termination — and, through demonstrations, role plays and practical exercises, gain the foundational skills required for professional counselling practice.

This beginner-level course is delivered fully online and self-paced, with around four hours of pre-recorded expert content, practical worksheets, therapeutic tools and case-study discussions. On successful completion you receive a certificate, having built practical, application-ready skills for counselling, educational, personal-development and professional settings.
